Membership Information

We appreciate your interest in joining the Nottoway County Emergency Squad, Inc. As a prospective member, you will be joining a group of highly professional and dedicated volunteers that, since our establishment in 1953, have earned us the respect and repeated plaudits of the citizens of this community. Our professionalism and tireless dedication in all phases of emergency medical services for 1997 resulted in our squad winning the Governors Award for the Best Emergency Services Organization in the state.

Terri Eanes practices giving Pearl Bowlin an IV.

Training for state certification, at each level, is provided at no cost to all members of our squad. All members are encouraged to qualify at each level within the Emergency Medical Services field.

Requirements for joining the Emergency Squad are as follows:

  1. You must be 16 years of age or older. (Members under 18 years of age must have parental consent.)
  2. You must be physically fit.
  3. You must be of good character.

Your driving record will be required before your application can be processed if you are over 21 years of age and may be reviewed after completion of an Emergency Vehicle Operators Certification class before you will be allowed to drive an ambulance. When obtained for the Emergency Squad, there may be a small fee for this record from any branch of the DMV.

Two members work on a patient during a night time call.
